VMware by Broadcom is a key player in the market in multi-cloud management solutions. Many organizations have deep investments in VMware technologies, with staff and processes built around its ecosystem. To leverage public cloud services without disrupting ongoing operations, these organizations need a cost-effective way to migrate existing workloads using their current tools and expertise.
Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE) is the result of collaboration of VMWare and GCP that enables seamless migration of VMware-based applications from on-premises datacenters to dedicated Google Cloud environments via API. This solution combines the strengths of both VMware and Google Cloud—offering familiar VMware infrastructure on high-performance Google bare metal servers connected through Google’s global network.
GCVE integrates smoothly with other Google services, such as Cloud Storage and AI Platform, while Google manages the underlying physical infrastructure, including security, datacenter operations, and hardware or firmware updates. This allows businesses to modernize efficiently while maintaining operational continuity.
GCVE users continue to manage the virtual machines in exactly the same way as on premises VMware using the same tool administrators are familiar with like vCenter server, NSX Manager.

HCX acts as a bridge between your on-premises VMware setup and Google Cloud VMware Engine, making hybrid cloud adoption easier.
